- I can't imagine why you are having problems. I have a 16MHz A3000 and use
- a USR 28.8k v.everything modem with absolutely no problems. This is what
- I run:
-
- -8 color Interlaced Magic Workbench with maximum overscan
- -8 color Terminus screen non interlaced(way too slow interlaced!)
- -Workbench serial prefs set to maximum baud rate and buffer
- -Terminus serial speed set to 57.6k and a buffer of 16
- -Standard Commodore serial.device & running AmigaDOS 2.1
- -I have 2m chip ram and 12m fast ram, and ALL downloads are to ramdisk
-
- I have no idea what the 8n1.device is or does. What terminal program
- are you using? If you are using JR-Comm, that would explain it. I
- used to have awful downloading speeds until I switched to Terminus.
- JR-Comm also didn't like to multi-task with a mod player, but using
- Terminus I can use HippoPlayer(but only 4 channel mods, more than
- that and I get serial errors) and use Q-Blue on it's own 8 color
- interlaced screen. With all this running I can get 3300 CPS all the
- time. The system is pretty sluggish when doing all this, but it works.
- Before I upgraded my modem and was running at 14.4k, there was no
- apparent slowdown at all, so your system should be flying right now.
- The last thing I can think of is that if you are downloading to a
- hard drive you don't have the right settings in the terminal program.
- Terminus has several settings to compensate for slow hard drives, etc.
- Try downloading to ram(if you have enough) to see if this is the problem.
